Manning Speaks Out Against the “Mack Daddy”

    E-mailed to me by co-workers:

No way this blowhard will get any traction on mainstream media, but it's interesting--and funny--nonetheless.
''I want to make it clear,'' [Carl Rowan] said the other day as he emerged from his arraignment [for illegal possession and use of a firearm in Washington DC], ''that I still favor a strict national law to control the availability of handguns to those who are not law enforcement officials.''

Howard Stern was playing all Manning's stuff during the election, and interviewed Manning as well.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

Never heard of the guy until now.

Interesting how he mentions "white [insurrection] groups are forming." He also requests to join one!

Can we folk who don't fear Jesus also stand up?

The problem with Manning is he seems to have absolutely no inhibitions whatsoever. The song at the end is funny--funny like a SNL skit or something. But outside of unapologetically outrageous satire, it's really over the line to accuse people of having gay extramarital affairs (what I decided it was about before I just closed the tab), no matter what you think about his politics. You *could* argue that breaking into song sort of cues the listener that it is outrageous satire, but....

That, of course, makes him still morally superior to the deranged anti-Bush thugs with terrorist signs:

but it doesn't make it right or anything we want to be connected to. (Rest of pics here, BTW.)

There is also the point that something as outrageous as the reverend is trivially easy to spin against us, so why do we want links to something so inflammatory on our board?

What do you need guns for if you are going to send your children, seven hours a day, 180 days a year to government schools? What do you need the guns for at that point?-- R. C. Sproul, Jr. (unconfirmed)

According to my copy of the First Amendment, yes indeed, but I hope you can understand that a guy with a website motto of "all Jesus, all the time" will have a different focus.

Nobody is discussing this guy in a serious manner. The fact that he's so over-the-top is obviously the reason it was posted here.

However, repeating what I wrote before, it is interesting that he's claiming that white groups are threatening to rise up. Whether this guy's actually trying to make a caricature of the whole "anti-Obama" stuff by arguing that only a nutty black man would side with those types is an interesting possibility.

But the main reason it was posted is because the hysterics he engages in were amusing. I doubt we'll tarnish our reputation by laughing at it a bit.

Oh, I think he's funny too, and I did compare him to SNL. It's more a matter of giving weapons to our enemies. Any reporter who can't make us look bad with some judicious "reporting" (a.k.a. lying, but what's new?) should turn in their laptop for sheer incompetence.

Though I suppose after the many "Zombie Apocalypse" threads perhaps I should not worry about additional fuel for detractors.
