My thoughts are that I'd rather put a true conservative up, have him lose once and deal with one more awful term under a progressive, then people are more likely to reconsider that anchored conservative/statist the next time around. Instead of having a flip-flopping 'republican' who bends over for anyone which rightfully leaves people with a horrendous likeness of what the RNC or even independents are supposedly all about, making them want to go back to another progressive borderline socialist.

So far Boxer has been reelected twice. The let evil show herself so she can be defeated next time plan has yet to work. The plan relies on a deep bench with viable candidates emerging for the next election. The republican bench has been a graveyard for more than a decade. Boxer's margins keep growing. Same with DiFi.
