    Declaration of Independence

    We have all heard of it, but have you actually read it? It's a pretty heavy document with lots of strong language. If you have not read it, I would suggest you do, it's very interesting. Lot's of paralles with what's going on in today's world.

    It is a fantastic document, and mandate. Government, and especially Federal government has twisted its priority and powers reflected today. You notice we rarely hear about the constitution, Bill of Rights, or the Declaration of Independence from our elected representatives, or the media.

    It is time for the American people to start talking about the constitution, constitutional leadership and decisions from our elected representatives.

    We the people hold the true power, government is worthless with out our support, or our disapproval.

    Time for this country to re awaken to the principals of the documents we were founded on, to heed the warnings from our fore fathers, and to demand our leaders to be representative of the oath taken to defend uphold the constitution. In addition, we need to demand appointed positions be filled by those committed to the same.

      I was thinking of updating it a bit, starting with "The history of the present and recent Government of the United States of America is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world."

      And then kind of go from there, just need to get off my lazy butt!

          Funny thing about the Declaration of Independence is that both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams thought it pretty much sucked but would be good enough. Although Adams was just jealous that Jefferson got all the credit for it.


          Based upon the same natural rights theory contained in A Summary View, to which it bears a strong resemblance, the Declaration of Independence made Jefferson internationally famous. Years later that fame evoked the jealousy of John Adams, who complained that the declaration's ideas were "hackneyed." Jefferson agreed; he wrote of the declaration, "Neither aiming at originality of principle or sentiment, nor yet copied from any particular and previous writing, it was intended to be an expression of the American mind."

            I carry a copy of the Declaration and the Constitution pretty much everywhere I go. I also had the Heritage Foundation send me a bunch and hand them out to people that have obviously never read it.
            War is when your Government tells you who the enemy is......

            Revolution is when you figure it out for yourself.

                  When I taught a Social Studies class I'd give each of my students a copy and we'd go over it together. I asked one of the Social Studies teachers last year if they actually had the students read the Declaration or the Constitution; she gave me a wide-eyed look like I was nuts and told me no.
                  People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

                      I think I can say, for the most part, our elected officials have not read this document or at least not since high school.
