Shopkeeper ‘didn’t want to shoot’ robbers

It's fascinating how one quickly becomes the aggressor instead of the victim.

As one person who was interviewed put it ""He died in the hands of God," said a neighborhood resident, Vincent Gayle, pointing to the blood-spattered pavement by the church. "But what goes around comes around." " Sad.

I don't know, I think the interviewed guy meant the robber, i.e. the armed robber got what was coming to him...

I think the shop keeper should be commended for saving lifes of his workers and others.

These bad guys maybe would have hurt more people that day or the next.

        Thanks!!

He did what he had to do and had a right to do. It's unfortunate that he had to experience killing two men. I hope I never have to experience that. It's also unfortunate that the four men chose to terrorize and attempt to rob these people. They justly suffered the consequences of their behavior.

But he was a victim, police said, and no charges had been filed on Friday.
Well, at least there's that. Hopefully it stays that way...

That is all before Mayor Bloomberg weighed in I'm sure. I would be surprised if this goes without being charged. Bloomberg has to make sure that no one else tries something foolish like protect himself from armed robbers with an unregistered gun. He will see to it that this shopkeeper is made an example of.

Frida Rodriguez called it "a sad day" for the neighborhood.

Augusto "was defending his work, his business, so you could perceive that as being heroic," she said. "But on the other hand, these kids died."
Reading the responses to this incident make you realize how bass ackwards this country has gotten. Violent armed robbers are considered more legitimate than the man protecting his workers and livelihood. Frankly, the guy did nothing more than put down a couple of feral animals.

First thing the authorities did was take the victim's gun.
So if there is any retribution on the horizon from the perp's buddies, he's unarmed unless he has a back-up.

Watch the families of these skells sue this poor dude.

Hopefully New York has a felony murder rule so the two survivors get convicted of two counts of murder. I am pretty sure New York like California has a self defense exception to possession of an illegal firearm. I don't think they could charge him even if they wanted. The only issue is the legal costs he might suffer from the victims family, the defense alone might cost him the business.

On his door header instead of scrawling "Abandon all hope..." it should have been "Expect swift justice all scum...."

It always breaks my heart to read about such a senseless tragedy. That perfectly good 12 guage had just been sitting there all this time, only test fired once. No excuse, he should've used it more and maybe gone 4 for 4. Awful, just awful.

Four on the floor works for me. They all deserved to bleed out in my opinion.
Good argument for more range time, training, and fire discipline.

Don't be an arse hole. The world is nicer that way. The man is no hero, just a decent human being.

I'm not following the line of thinking that someone is an arsehole for having the opinion that the killing of four armed assailants before they can kill their intended victims is just what the assailants deserve.

It doesn't make the victim a hero, but it doesn't make anyone who thinks he'd be justified in killing them an arsehole either.

Four assailants committing a felonious assault with firearms killed by their intended victim.

                              That's a nicer world.
