    Nevada long-gun PPT process/rules?

I've had a rifle stored out of California for several years now. I need to sell it out of state, and plan on going to the Reno Gun Show to try to do so.

Anyone know what the rules or process is for selling a rifle at a Nevada gun show? Does it need to be through a dealer or can the buyer just hand me cash and I give him the rifle? If yes, does he need to be Nevada resident, or is it the same situation if he is from, say, Utah?

Keep in mind that I am a California resident.

    Thanks.

You will need to sell the gun through a Nevada FFL. Many of the Nevada FFL's at the show are set up to do the paperwork and NICS. You can sell it to a resident of amost every other State (not California) as long as the transfer goes through a Nevada FFL at the show. Most of the Nevada residents who want to buy the gun from you will tell you that you don't need to go through an FFL. But since you and the buyer are from two different States, Federal law requires that an FFL be involved in the transfer.

Both parties have to follow the laws of thier own states. You would have to use an ffl at the show.

If the unlicensed seller is from out of state, he is not required to follow the laws of his home State. Only the laws of the FFL's State, which would be the State that the transaction was happening in, and the laws of the buyer's State need to be followed.
