DrudgeReport links to USAToday CCW article.

DrudgeReport gets a gazillion views per day - so this article will be hit heavy today.

    Direct link.

All things considered - not too biased. Does, however, have this quote "Paul Helmke, president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, fears that violent confrontations will increase. "When someone's carrying a gun around and they're not fully trained, oftentimes they'll use it just because it's there," he says."

Yeah - like that happens often.

Mentions that in Florida "The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services hired 61 temporary workers to tackle a backlog in applications, spokesman Terence McElroy says. It got 75,520 applications through June, on pace to beat last year's record of 90,331."

I think it's telling that this idiot has resorted to just making s**t up at this point. There isn't even any semblance of a rational debate from them anymore. Public opinion really does seem to have shifted the other way around the majority of the country and gun control advocates really have no positive results to show for their last 35-40 years of effort.

    Let's continue the a**-kicking.

I would agree his fears are unfounded and would be easy to defend against by simply looking at Nevada that allows open loaded carry with no permit or training before hand. How many mass shootings or "use of guns because they have them" scenarios have occurred????
The only thing that is worse than an idiot, is someone who argues with one.

Paul Helmke just needs to go away, all of his arguments are so stale now...it's laughable. Where are all these gunfights Paul???

Paul Helmke is living in a fantasy world. Murders are not committed by CCW license holders. Where does he get off making such unsupported statements as though they are truth. It would be simple to verify by looking at CCW revocations based on brandishing and assault charges on CCW holders. It is a shame the people who support him are just as crazy and this information would have no effect on them.

Would you prefer it if they found someone more competent ?

This. Keep him and ignore the crap that keeps coming out of his mouth like we already do and soon enough more people will realize he's talking out his *** and they'll do the same.

He gets off making lots of money and getting lots of attention and influence from spouting it. It's his ticket to an easy meal. No way in hell does he actually believe it.

I hate to disappoint you, but there are some statistics that were dug up by the VPC (liars) that points to a few miscreants <5 that were able to get CCW permits in their respective states and then killed someone. While the statistics can be broken down to show that a CCW permit holder is 1/10th as likely to commit murder as the rest of the population. I cant find the link to the details, but this link is some good info, but the 51 number is wildly inflated and has been researched to find that somewhere around 5 actually committed murder. It is sometimes hard to ferret out the facts, but its important to know them in order to refute such FUD as the VPC spreads.

In many contexts it's useful to point out that they are far less likely to be engaged in an unjustifiable shooting than police as well. I forget the precise statistics however.
