    Nevada CCW training on Thursdays?

Just checking around the Nevada CCW training places. They all seem to operate only on Wednesday and Saturday. I have to go to Las Vegas in October, but the only day I could do the training is a Thursday.

Anyone suggest anywhere that might manage this?

I've found that the Reno area trainers are sometimes open for a private session, so this may apply to Clark County as well. Between classes, some are eager to make a few bucks training on unscheduled days. I'd ask. In the Reno area, the sheriff provides a list of qualified trainers for the county (varies from county to county) and it had contact info.

You may need to be in Nev during a weekday to get the sheriff's paperwork processed.

Yes, I have to be in Vegas from Friday lunchtime through the weekend, so I'd have Friday morning to go to the sheriff's station. It's one thing getting there a day early to do the course, but I don't want to get there two days early. For one thing, double the hotel and meal cost.

I guess I should make a list and email them all, the ones I've spoken with on the phone just said Wednesdays and Saturdays. Maybe I'll look at a map and see how far Reno is. Whoops, it is a long way.

          If your in Norcal...

I just took 3 friends to get thier Nevada CCW's. There is a guy named Wayne Crow 775-720-4929 in Gardnerville (Minden/Carson area) that I called up, arranged the day I wanted to do this...and the time so that we could be at the Sheriff's Office the same day. He is retired and will work aeound your shedule.

He is a former Fresno, Ca gun dealer and is a crack up. He charged $80 total which included as many guns as you wanted to add to your permit (Nevada specifies make, model and caliber...so you hyave to bring everything you want on the permit...but Nv doesnt require the serial number, so if you want something on your permit that you dont have yet, then borrow and bringone to shoot. If you do any revolver -Wayne has one you can use - its good for all revolvers).

We did the class at Wayne's house, in is garage and the shooting part was kinda like on the side of the road where everyone apparently goes. You can really tell the differences between NV and CA fer sure!

I got my Nv permit in Vegas at the Gun Store and it was $75 plus $25 for each additional gun!

Important note. Wherever you get your permit, that will be the only place you can add calibers or make changes. I had planned to add some guns to my permit on that trip, but apparently its county by county and cant be done. It also means that each county has a different looking permit too...my LVMPD permit is real cool and official looking, but the permits in other places look kind of cheesey (not as bad as Ca's though!). For Douglas County, they just went to a new and better looking permit, but the old ones were neon cheesy as well...

Here is the Douglas County app and info//

Kurt Gepke is a NV CCW instructor in the Las Vegas area.
He does private/group training. So, he can give classess any day of the week.

I recently renewed my NV CFP through him and highly recommend him.
Cost me $125 + $10 range fee + $0.75 per gun (cost of target).
I brought 4 handguns to qualify with and ended up qualifying with 6 handguns. The other two were suppressed, so it was interesting qualifying with those. I also got some free trigger time with a SWD M-11/9. The suppressed handguns and the MG are Kurt's and he brings them to the range when you go qualify, so you can qualify with them as well (for free).

I know a guy that is a Nevada certified trainer and is available for private lessons to accomodate your schedule. I do not know what he charges, however, if you want to contact him you can do so through e-mail.

He is former Army Ranger and LEO. I did not do my Nevada ccw training with him, however, I have met him on several occasions through other people I know that have gotten their Nevada ccw from him. They told me he is excellent!

When you e-mail him tell him that "Big Jake from calguns.net sent you and he will know that I referred you. His e-mail address is ssprotection@hotmail.com

Are private courses still 8 hours?

Thanks, guys, for all the useful gen. I will contact these people and see what I can arrange. It will have to be in Clark County, or otherwise near Vegas, so I think that rules out at least one good suggestion above (thanks anyway, MP301)

Look at LVMPD'S website. If they are like Washoe, Douglas, etc., they will have all registered CCW instructors available. IIRC, the list was on the first page of the PDF of the application. A lot of the instructors are retired with an open schedule.....it worked for 3 of my friends..

Thanks, I couldn't find anything on the website, but they are sending me their application package in which, if you say you want it, they put a list of instructors.

I'm talking with one of the people suggested above, but nothing definate yet, and another of them has not respponded to my emails.

Hopefully I can get something sorted out.

I have had several phone and email conversations with him. Unlike some I have tried to contact, he has been most helpful and accomodating. I will report back after I have gone to L.V. to train with him.

                        Thanks for the tip!

FYI Glock22fan. I just spoke with him last night and he told me that you called him. He trained me for my Massachustes and Rhode Island ccw, which I am in the process of applying for.

He is a great guy and very professional! He will train you well. I learned a lot from him!
