I have no idea how many items are in the registry, but Suppressors and SBRs/SBSs are not dangerous and unusual and are regularly acquired and used in numerous states, and are still being added to the registry.

I fail to see the government getting rid of an income mechanism (tax stamps), but perhaps a challenge to state laws banning NFA items when other states readily allow them.

It should be attempted, but don’t look to an NRA-affiliate to start it.

Bruen called out handguns several times for their analysis of bear, leaving out rifles or long guns that can be concealed.

Are they ready to overturn Miller? Possibly, but a good test would be to try and challenge the GCA for out of state purchases first, before anything larger…test the waters.

And, all of the Federal-level challenges should be filed in Texas.

That's where I hope this goes. It would seem on its face that the NFA is just another kind of permit just like for CCW. And for the most part NFA stamps are shall-issue from the ATF side. No "good cause" or any such nonsense. Fill out the forms, do the fingerprints, and if it comes back clean you get your toy. Heck, the fees and training for a CCW in San Diego are more than the $200 tax stamp. It's only individual states that have additional restrictions (like CA) or ban them outright. I'd expect the NFA to withstand challenge based on the ruling we just got. I hope that a combination of McDonald and Bruen shows that a state ban on permitted NFA items isn't constitutional. Expect CA to go kicking and screaming, and it'll take some time.
