Bonta is giving a press conference right now

Flapping his gums about the Bruen decision streaming on line right now. I'm watching it on YouTube and they already have a bill written to address the issues.

    Suck it, Bonta!

Seems like they just wanted an excuse to have face time with the electorate.

Admit they have lost "good cause" and "good moral character" and have to implement non-subjective criteria.

Mentioned background screening and training requirements (nothing new, we have those already). The one new thing I picked up on was "mental capacity" - so, is this going to be an IQ test or something?

Also they are coming out with a bill to enumerate "sensitive places" which they think will stand up. We'll see.

Mentioned several times "the right to feel safe". I keep looking and looking but haven't found that one in the bill of rights yet... Maybe I should look again, he seems pretty certain.

They know they're about to be inundated with permit applications. The wait times for those are going to be unbelievable because they don't have a process nor the equipment in place. I expect them to make the process as uncomfortable and time-consuming and expensive and as limited in terms of where you can carry in a practical sense that it will dissuade most people from following through with the full application process.

They already do BC checks and mental health checks.

Most likely will go over “safe spaces”

Most IAs do not require a mental evaluation beyond a face to face interview with an investigator. If they require an expensive and lengthy psych exam (I have heard of some IAs psych exams taking hours), every year, that would be a major wtf/fu

I fear they are not going to take this loss like adults, and will do everything in their power to effectively mute the "right" to bear, and things are gonna get worse for many CCW folks here - not better.

They can lay all types of intricate legal traps for CCW, and turn people who even try into unwitting felons with any innocuous oversight of the complex laws they will write - and they will get their jollies doing it.

You would hope so - these mental exams are more Tarot cards than science, and a sure fire way to omit people subjectively just like NYs now overturned law did. But they will pass what they want anyway and we can wait 30 years to find out what Scotus says about it

Funny how they bring up state's rights as it pertains to this ruling, but are vehemently against state's rights when it comes to Roe V Wade.

You probably saw his campaign commercials, wherein he said the reason he ran was because "our rights are sacred". That always brought a little smile to my face.
