Fallout in CA from TX abortion case rulling.

The governor announces plans to “create the ability for private citizens to sue anyone who manufactures, distributes, or sells an assault weapon or ghost gun kit or parts in CA.” This is the collateral damage from Texas legislation, SB8, which created a private right of action to sue Texas abortion providers when an abortion is performed after six weeks. As SB8 is an attempt to shield limitations on Texas abortions from federal jurisdiction, this is an attempt to shield 2A rights from federal jurisdiction.

Full statement is in the attached picture released by Newsom and his office.

Or any other thing (insert idea here) that those in power wish to harangue.

The fun thing is the burden will be on the defendant in the private lawsuit to prove their innocence. AFAIK, under the Texas statute anyone can name any other person in a suit. I'm not even sure that there is a need for any evidence in order to file.

So a private right of action should exist for crime victims to sue politicians that let criminals out of prison early.

              Absolutely.

So Newsom thinks he can just sign away the PLCAA? I'm not sure it works like that.

Think the more laws passed the more likely the USA Supreme Court is going have to hear a case and make a ruling

Indeed. I suspected that the Texas law was crafted to force the ACLU et al to try and get a Supreme Court precedent that private right of action is unconstitutional if a party is uninvolved in a situation.

Or create a sanctuary state that harbors illegals who may hurt/kill someone.
I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

Yep. Zero concern that they are protecting unvetted God knows what from anywhere around the globe. Sounds like reckless public endangerment to me.

Newsom has a new scheme for gun control

Looks like Newsom is gonna copy Texas to place greater control on guns in California.

This article states “ Newsom said he was directing his staff to work with the state Legislature and Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta on a new law that would allow private citizens to sue manufacturers or distributors of assault weapons.”
