When we start registering bullet buttons again

I was one of the people who tried unsuccessfully to register my bullet buttons (currently in pieces, legally stored).

I have since lost my DROS records with the dates of sales and dealer names etc. Any way to get those? My dealer is out of business for several years now.

How will we know it's time to register again? Time current doj website hasn't been updated since 2018 and I don't want to miss out this time.

    Thanks in advance

CA DOJ has a form to find out all firearms registered to you. Takes about 6 months to get a return from DOJ. Someone will be along to provide a link I am sure.
May I always be the type of person my dog thinks I am

Check CFARS for when it re-opens.

Registering assault weapons will be only be done through CFARS.

Using any other method will get the submission rejected and the information sent to them will be saved for investigation by CA DOJ BOF.

CA DOJ BOF is suppose to re-open a window for BBAW applications for people who had their previous attempts rejected/failed due to CFARS issues, but they were not given a time frame to do so and they have not posted any updates or information to pertaining on when this may occur.

Speculations, that around July-September 2021, they may release updated regulations governing how this will occur.

Will month and year suffice for registering a bullet button rifle (date rifle purchased) when registration reopens?

              Thanks

You can always try to call DOJ directly. During the last registration period I had called to figure out the date for a few of my old pieces. The lady was very helpful and friendly and pulled my history up and started given me the dates.

Then she stopped and said, "sorry that's too many, you need to submit a request." LOL

It is also when I found out they had record of stuff even before DROS even shotguns. Yep, BS they don't keep records.

Just checked CFARS, looks like they still haven't opened up registration yet.

Did the DOJ have a deadline to reopen before the end of 2021? All I remember was that they had to give an advanced window of notice, and they had to keep the registration open for 3 months.

I was under the impression that the settlement of the Sharp v. Becerra required paper applications.

Today, Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) announced a major settlement agreement, inclusive of an injunction and consent decree, with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and the California Department of Justice (DOJ) in Sharp v. Becerra, a federal due process lawsuit that challenged the State’s implementation and enforcement of “assault weapons” laws passed in 2016, including “registration disasters” such as failed DOJ systems.

DOJ will accept paper registration applications postmarked through the last day of the Registration Period.

If you missed the "opportunity" to register your guns last time around... consider yourself lucky. You dodged a bullet.
