Radiolab Presents: More Perfect - The Gun Show

I've been around here in CA all my life, lived in Sac region since 1968 (okay, I was only 8) but never knew the first part of the history revealed in this presentation. I found it fascinating and a lot of it excited me, and a lot of it pissed me off.

    My takeaways:
    - the Black Panthers pushed too far (even if right)
    - gun control in CA was born of racism
    - no one much thought about the individual right prior to 1967 because owning and using guns was normal in a huge proportion of citizens
    - those guys who challenged the NRA in 1977 are my heroes
    - Heller's dedication to the cause was fearless

Give it a listen if have about an hour and 10 minutes:
In 2008, the Supreme Court stepped in to settle our fight over the Second Amendment’s meaning. They did. And they didn’t.

More Perfect is a great podcast. I wish they had kept going more than the dozen or so episodes they did.

The truth is always more complicated. Who doesn't enjoy quality reporting.

I listened to this a while back and recall disagreeing with a few of their points, disliking HOW they presented a few others, and all in all, thinking this was the most balanced 2A piece I'd heard on NPR in a LONG time.
