It's called the Grand Old Party (Waiting for libertarians and others to execrate me).

I don't think there's a guide persay; though I would certaintly be interested if there was.

We should compile an official Calguns 2A voting guide next election...maybe even this one if somebody has too much time on their hands.

Well, just voting GOP isn't enough these days, especially in CA. In fact, in most cases I'd rather vote for the least radical candidate who has a decent record of protecting gun rights with common sense. Unfortunately we often have to choose between hippies and Bible thumpers, both on my ignore list.

I guess I need to do my homework again...

        Dont Tread on Me

Here is a guide that I got. I don't know if it is an official NRA product but I'm just posting here. NRA folks - shout if this is bad info and I'll remove/edit.

I'm surprised that Feinstein got an F. I would have invented a new letter for her.
        ======
The NRA did not endorse any of the California candidates for the US Senate. Here are the two they rated:

Dick Mountjoy (R) NRA rated A
Dianne Feinstein (D) NRA rated F

The NRA has endorsed the following three candidates for California state-wide office:

        Lieutenant Governor
Tom McClintock NRA rated A, NRA ENDORSED

        Secretary of State
Bruce McPherson NRA rated B, NRA ENDORSED

        State Controller
Tony Strickland NRA rated A, NRA ENDORSED

The NRA did not endorse any of the rest of the candidates for state-wide office, but these are NRA-rated "A":

        Attorney General
        Chuck Poochigian NRA rated A

        State Treasurer
        C. Claude Parrish NRA rated A

        Insurance Commissioner
        Steve Poizner NRA rated A

Only one of the local Alameda County candidates for national and state offices has been endorsed by the NRA (as noted below). Here are the NRA-rated local candidates:

US House of Representatives, District 09
John Dendulk (R) NRA rated unknown *
Barbara Lee (D) NRA rated F

US House of Representatives, District 13
George Bruno (R) NRA rated A-
Pete Stark (D) NRA rated F

State Senate, District 09 (Alameda, Albany, Berkeley, Castro Valley, Dublin, Livermore and Oakland)
        No election

State Senate, District 10 (Fremont, Hayward, Newark, Pleasanton, San Leandro, San Lorenzo and Union City)
Lou Filipovich (R) NRA rated A
Ellen Corbett (D) NRA rated D

State Assembly, District 14 (Berkeley and Oakland)
Leigh Noah Wolf (R) NRA rated A
Loni Hancock (D) NRA rated F

        State Assembly, District 15 (Livermore)
Gus S. Huston (R) NRA rated A, NRA ENDORSED
Terrence Joseph Coleman (D) NRA rated unknown *

State Assembly, District 16 (Alameda, Oakland and Piedmont)
Sandre Swanson (D) NRA rated unknown *

State Assembly, District 18 (Dublin, Hayward, Oakland, Pleasanton and San Leandro)
Jill Buck (R) NRA rated A
Mary Hayashi (D) NRA rated unknown *

State Assembly, District 20 (Fremont, Newark and Union City)
Ken Nishimura (R) NRA rated A
Alberto Torrico (D) NRA rated F

I wanted to stress that those were ca-brit-05's comments - NOT NRA's. I've never heard NRA make a blanket party statement about Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, etc. In my experience, they consider each lawmaker/candiate/race on consistent but individual factors, but not on party lines.

Of course, the failings of Koretz, Scott, etc are fair game, but I suggest it is less than helpful to insult Democrats en masse. Remember that Republicans own less than 40% of the legislature. That isn't enough to pass or stop anything except (maybe) supermajority (2/3) votes. That means EVERY victory we achieved this year in the legislature - defeating AB 352, SB 357, etc - passing AB 2111 and SB 1239 - ALL required significant support from Democrats.

To stop a bad bill, you have to stall the bill in a committeee or keep the bill from getting minimum 41 Yes votes in the Assembly or 21 Yes votes in the Senate. To pass a good bill, a bill has make it through all required Assembly & Senate committees *AND* get at least 41 Yes votes in the Assembly *AND* at least 21 yes votes in the Senate. Right now, we can't stop anything or pass anything without Democrat support because they own 60+% of everything.

NRA has been doing a great job communicating THE TRUTH ABOUT THESE BILLS to honest Democrats. That and our calls, letters, etc have made all the difference in 2006. We passed 2 pro-gun bills into law, the governor vetoed both anti-gun bills that got through and we prevented seven others from getting that far. THE ANTIS WERE SHUTOUT THIS YEAR while we made incremental progress. Anyone sense a corner turning?

Of course, I don't vote against NRA's preferences, but I also don't make blanket statements about any party. It's just not helpful.

            Mike

^^ You have a point and I'll take care of my post. I still
believe the way I do about that party, but since a lot
of things are on the burner coming up, I'll back off.

Yeah, I'm in a bit of a dilemma, I'm gonna haf to vote for a Democrat.

My Assembly woman, Nicole Parra, voted "No" on AB 2714, SB 59 and AB 352. If you recall, AB 352 (Koretz) Microstamping was voted on about 7 times that last night. Parra voted no on AB 50, banning the .50 BMG which Arnold signed into law.
                And "No" on AB 2728.

She appears to be pro gun

Yet she is a Democrat. A good one.

I've said it before, and gun owners should remember it.

There are many pro gun democrats.

Those that live in Cali, where we have so many demos, should understand this better than most. It is crucial, we do not offend these folk by generalizing about them.

We should not be calling gun grabbers "libs", "liberals", or "democrats".

We should be calling them what they are, "gun grabbers", maybe "tyrants" or other terms of your choosing.

Pardon my ignorance(although accused of much worse ) but how do I know which district I'm in to know who to vote for?

If you look at the elections list for Texas there is only a handful of "F" rating. Then when comparing to CA every other person is F We just need all there politcians to move here.
