If any news story characterized any religion (except mainstream Christianity, that is), ethnicity (except Anglo), or profession in the derogatory fashion that gun owners are they'd have 6 foot stacks of lawsuits on their desks at 8am the next Monday. Look at how little they toppled Don Imus for. You can directly substitute the N word for "shooter", "gunman", and "NRA" and have exactly the kind of story they mean to run. How we are treated is an exact carbon copy of racism.

I've suggested time and time again that this defamation not be taken lightly, but instead used to feed our coffers, drain their ability to continue, and turn the captured money against them. We're yet to see it tried. I haven't the foggiest clue what they're waiting for.
The problem is that interviewing toothless idiot hillbillies may be misleading (by implying that gun owners are uneducated idiots), but it's only an implication since they don't outright say it. In contrast, they often say that certain 'assault weapons' are machine guns. This is a demonstrable lie (ostensibly intended to misrepresent the opposition), and it seems to me that one could sue over it.
