    The Great Black Shark

The Great White Shark is the terror of the ocean, but here in California we have a creature that is even most powerful and he is in the Cal State Senate.

I refer of course to State Senator Rod Wright and he is our shark.

Senator Wright has been a leader for gun rights, I apologize for not even noticing that he got elected, guess I was seriously asleep at the wheel on this one.

To say he is smart and understands the thinking and acting processes ofmany of our elected officials is are understatement.

To say that many of our elected officials thinking processes are somewhere out in space is a understatement.

Having someone who understands how they think means we have someone who can come up with ways to deal and control the amount of damage they actually do.

Senator Wright has tried to clean up the CCW process in the past, He wrote AB2022, which will play a major role in future CCW reform actions in this state.

We need a pro gun outreach in the Afro American Cimmunity. A popular Afro American Democratic State Senator would be a good start.

Rod Wright could open doors for us. For instance, LA county would be a good target for future CCW lawsuits.

Let's be honest, how many of you on this board would want a ccw permit if you had to live in Compton Ca.

I realize there is alot of action in Orange right now due to a new sheriff and we should let those guys play things out first, then adjust tactics from what we learned.

We should help him become the power broker in the State Senate. We had to deal with "Willie Brown", now it is our turn.

I met Sen Rod Wirght back at a hospitality suite at the NRA Convention in 2002 and talked with him briefly. The guy has got things together.

Of course, if I ran into him today, he may not recognize me, I have had some changes since.

So let's open this up to how we can help him because it is in our self interest to do so.

    thats my Senator!

I saw he got a decent grade from the NRA and i voted for him. probably the most pro-gun we have here in LA.

Edit:he was definitely a step up from Mervin Dymanally.

I remember the campaign literature Dymanally tried to paint him as a mouth piece NRA . (as if that were a bad thing.)

Worked in Compton and Long Beach at night for 2 years; had a yard on Avalon. I'd rather be there than other places I've been.

Being robbed more than once seems odd, maybe you look like an easy target?

Well, considering that I talked with him farily extensively and smoozed with him and Jim March that convention, even if he has a great memory for faces, he may not recognize me since I had significant facial reconstruction.

I have found that humor and a willingness not to make people feel they have to walk on nails, or in some cases mine fields works for me.

Let's say I get some very interesting dynamics in my day to day activities and it is interesting to watch how each side of the political spectrum views each other.

Rod Wright is unique in that here we have a Afro American Liberal Democrat from Comptom Ca who is strongly on our side.

Rod spoke a few years back in Silicon Valley and he told us how his fellow democrats couldn't believe that gun owners were actually supporting him because he was Black.

I'm not hiding who I am, hell, my picture got posted in a Silicon valley paper a few years back.

I figure that when I run into Rod in the future it will be a WTF moment and he will get a good laugh at things.

Hopefully he will be open to some "creative ideas" I have come up that I based on his values and the way he thinks to make more progress on our rights.

grown men taking a couple of dollars from a kid (i was 12) who really has 20 bucks hidden away. Yea im a easy target for the type that likes to take candy from a baby. I never gave them all my money it was only twice and it was in the same year. i was more interested in their guns (1911 & glock) than being shot(they never took them out of their pants). never had any problems after that, in fact some guys look as if they are scared of me.

LOL, I used to deliver pharmaceuticals in compton. I never had a problem, and stopped that route before I even thought about CCW...It would have been comforting to have.

Rod Wright has been helpful to our cause.

He's a perfect exhibit of how progunnies are not all R's, nor that we can assume that all R's are exhaustively on our side.

Wright has been useful in getting useful, helpful, practical and passable gun bills sheparded thru - as opposed to 'ideological purity' puff pieces proposed by others (hi, JLS!) that never have a chance of getting out of committee or that could do damage.

During Rod Wright's prior assembly term, rumors abound that Wright picked up another Demo by the lapels and threw him against the well when Wright found that the guy was trying to 'mess with his bill' (a gun bill).
