          Writing for AB357.

I would humbly suggest we stay away from arguing about our gun rights.

What I would suggest is that we focus on the following.

          1. Discriminatory aspects of the CCW system. The current law is in conflict with constitutional guarantees of art 1 sec 7B.

          2. Several sheriffs have been prosecuted for corruption, it appears with several sheriffs that campaign donations would significantly increase issuance of ccw permits. This undermines respect for law and order.

          3. While this bill would in theory allow all law abiding Californians to get CCW permits, based on issuance rates of other states with non discriminatory ccw systems, the issuance rates are under 2 percent of the population.

2 percent of law abiding citizens carrying guns isnt' everyone carrying a gun, it is just the most responsible people who have taken the time to learn the law and train and real world results show that not only are they not a public safety menace, but they also are a public safety benefit.

          Nicki

Not to be a party-pooper, but if you think this is even going to make it out of committee, I've got some prime swampland in Florida you're going to be interested in.

It's probably a bit of a longshot, though I place the brake further along in the process.

But it certainly won't go anywhere if we don't make our support known.
