"...if 926A is the only statute governing the interstate transportation of firearms..."

Lots of federal restrictions are (unfortunately) made by federal agencies rulemaking in the Federal Register....

That's where Federal regulations such as 27 CFR (BATF) and 49 CFR (DOT) come from. They are not just published and become effective immediately. There is usually a proposed ruling and a lengthly public comment period before a final ruling and then a transition period before the regulation becomes effective. And yes, the agencies do listen to the public comments and modify their ruling as a result of those comments. The responses to those comments and the reasoning behind the agency answers are also published in the Federal Register.

I've been in some crazy situations like this too.

It seems to be SOP now that the LEO agencies assume the caller/victum has done something to aggitate the insane irrational criminal that's causing all the trouble.

Considering all the articles basically saying police fear law-abiding citizens who deter criminals by open carrying (even in states where LOC is 100% legal and has been for years), it is not surprising that the pro-criminal, pro-job-retention policy extends to dispatch as well.

Upon further research I have to admit that I was wrong about weapons being illegal in commercial vehicles as an overall statement. I called the Federal Motor Safety Administration (916-930-2760) and they could find no FEDERAL regulation prohibiting said practice. They also said that doesn't mean that there isn't one. They referred me to ATF (951-320-7560). ATF also said that they don't have a reg prohibiting same. The agent ALSO stated that it doesn't mean there isn't one.

By now it's getting kind of fuzzy and I asked where else the regulation might be found. I explained that years ago when I was hauling all over that I had paperwork listing the regulation codes that explained that any firearm must be inventoried and included on the bill of lading and secured in the trailer, or cargo compartment and was illegal if in the cab. BULLSEYE! That is the law when entering into Canada->which will then seal the trailer and put it into bond when entering the country AND is also required by some states. I guess you'd have to research each and every state to keep yourself legal.

I also asked about a Federal License to carry. He laughed, told me to come and apply for a job. I could probably buy one anywhere they sell fake ID's and green cards.

Yes, had you reported a possible DUI, you'd have gotten a better response. Not necessarily because the cops want to protect the public, but because they get far more profit off a DUI arrest than they do sending an officer to check "suspicious circumstances". A DUI nets the county, LE, and State more than 5k all told. Sending an over-paid gov't worker (soon to be a pensioner @ 7K plus a month) on a call that will net no income puts them in the red.
Darn, I must have done something wrong as I only get about $5600 and I had to go thru 4 knee and 4 back surgeries to get that much.

I'm interested to know how you arrived at that 1 in 5 number you stated in your later post. Do you follow the officers around all day.

I must be a bad cop. The amount the state, county, or whoever is going to make off of my ticket, arrest or response never even crosses my mind.

Not all of them are perfect, and granted, some of them don't keep their "I'm in control here" attitudes in check all the time. But most are decent people and we're lucky to have them doing what can be a very ugly job.
Cops are just average people. Not supermen who defy statistical trends. Not every LEO is a super mega motivated hard worker, as you seem to imply.

Just like society in large, the same society these LEO's are drawn from, a significant portion of them do everything possible from actually doing work.

This may seem like LEO bashing, but it's not. LEO's are just regular people. Albeit, regular people with stressful jobs.
