    University campus petitions?

Ok, so I remember the countless people standing around in the SDSU quads trying to get people to sign their petitions to pass who knows what kind of stuff. Could we have a Calguns group set up an information table and have people read and/or sign things (like a letter to a state rep, for example) if they choose? Obviously this would not be related to any kind of open carry thing, it would just be informational and to (hopefully) get some awareness and support for the 2nd amendment among students. Not limited to SDSU of course, I just used that example becuz I went there.

SO tired of people that seem intelligent and capable of rational thought blowing that image by somehow not thinking and being a blind, party-line voter, and somehow that is good.

I know at UCSD it would be difficult to impossible as an outside group due to their "free speech zones." I don't know if SDSU has passed any similar unconstitutional restrictions... You're best bet would be to work with an established official on campus student group like College Republicans or College Libertarians, which at UCSD are very gun friendly, organizing trips to the range and del mar gunshow.

Ok cool, I'll check into it. I haven't been on campus since 2005 when I finished school so maybe there are more rules in place now, but I remember seeing everything from the ranting religious wackos to the anti-abortion folks with the really obscene pictures of dead babies to the Hari Krishnas to just about everything else one could possibly concieve of. A group of well-meaning 2nd amendment supporters should be well recieved if we show up informed, equipped to present and teach professionally and peacably assemble.

The republicans are a larger group and more active, the libertarians are only just now becoming more official. Both groups are predominantly libertarian minded registered republicans though; so you can't really go wrong with either; they're both on facebook. I'm too busy to get involved with any of them though.

Though as it relates to calguns, the problem I see with allying with them is that too easy for the liberal majority on this campus to just brush off a bunch of republicans/libertarians going on about their guns "bitter clingers".

If they don't even try in the first place there's zero chance of it working. "Liberal majority" is a farce--there's simply a choice between liberal and practically invisible. Nothing else is on the menu. If people are given an alternative to the leftist garbage they'll take it at least half the time.

I'm gonna try to circumvent all political affiliations. My goal is not to promote a political party, my goal is to promote appreciation and support for the 2nd amendment. I'll make some calls today.
