Get your guns before Jan 17 all you dope smokers. New 4473

As of Jan 17 you can not legally buy a firearm if you get high in a state that has legalized pot, even for medicinal reason. ATF considers the use of pot in the LAST 3 YEARS as a "USER".

    4473...

11e: "Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?
WARNING: The use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful; under Federal law regardless of whether it has been legalized or decriminalized for medicinal or recreational purposes in the state where you reside.

View the Updated ATF Form 4473 - Firearms Transaction Record (August 2023 Revisions) Notice Regarding Previous Changes to the ATF Form 4473 Due to new statutory requirements set forth in both the NICS Denial Notification Act and the Bipartisan Safer Community Act (BSCA), and to reflect the implementation of ATF Final Rule 2021R-05F, ATF Form 4473 has been revised.

Yeah, cause pot smokers are going to admit to it.

        Probably not in the slightest.

I just cut / pasted a thread from arf.

I do find it interesting that with all the posters noting conformance with California weapons is the way to go to stay "legal", that a federal mandate regarding reefer seems like an option.

Funny, because I saw that same thread, and figured you did (there) as well

It is funny about MJ though.
Here in CA, we have legislators that actively work to strip 2A rights, and simultaneously enable legalizing federally illegal acts.

California - you are confusing, and f**ked up.

The funny part is they have no legal ground to stand on. Its a stupid question and statement.

They can put on the 4473 "are you a member of an international terrorist organization planning to commit murder." The form is foolish to ask questions like this.

At best it should be an advisory box where you check "yes" you have been informed the Federal Government doesnt respect the States Laws and can arrest you without informing your local CLEO of their plans even for acts that are legal in your State.

Kinda reminds me of the good old days when we were all asked by the airline clerk checking you in if you packed your own bags and if they were under your control at all times. Yeah, mmm hmm. I'm sure a terrorist would tell the truth. Not to mention if I were taking a shuttle to the airport, the driver had my bags for a bit and I didn't stand around and watch to make sure he didn't put a bomb in one of them.

Yep, and that is just what we need, being associated with a bunch of people lying on their 4473. I'm sure that will help our cause.

Not that I have anything against 420 users, in fact I support their cause, but they will not help our cause by lying on the 4473. Just more crap for the anti's to twist against us.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Well, in that case they weren't asking whether you were a terrorist, but if there was a chance a terrorist could have slipped anything into your bag. Instead of answering automatically in the affirmative, you were supposed to think about whether, indeed, you were in control of your bags at all times.

About 25 years ago I was flying home from Dubai, connecting in London. During my connection, I was asked those questions, and was also asked whether anyone had given me anything to take on the flight. As a matter of fact, my Dubai customer had given me a wrapped gift just as they dropped me off at the ticket desk at the airport.

"Do you know what is in the package?"

                            "No, I didn't open it."

"How long have you known the people who gave you the item?"

                            "Only about a week."

                            "Where are they from?"

                            "Um, Lebanon?"

                            "Right, that's it then!"

So I had to go downstairs with the security people so they could pull my bag and find the gift and confirm that, indeed, it was just a silver ashtray.

Those airport scenes can really generate some bad scenarios. It's been over
30 years but I was with a group of six heading to NY to do a ship repair job,
one of the guys had some very specialized tools in a conventional suitcase.
When the counter person asked why it was so " heavy", he replied it was
his " bomb defusal" equipment! Well,to say we missed the flight was an
understatement. We were not locked up but were detained almost 12
hours until the FBI was done with us.
