I cannot believe that the NRA is taking credit for Donald Trump being elected. Laughing my arse off. I'm sure that all the gun owners who are already into the NRA really needed to be persuaded to vote for Trump and not Hillary. I think everyone in the nation knows California is the biggest Battleground State as far as gun rights are concerned. The NRA paid for something like half of all radio ads played in key counties that went for Trump in PA, WI, Ohio, and Michigan. I have no doubt that helped bring gun owners out to the polls who otherwise may have sat home.

There are a LOT of gun advocacy groups in CA and I keep throwing money at them with little to no ROI apparent.

The fact you don't perceive any ROI is 1) not going to change and 2) sort of tied to your lack of understanding of how the system works.

Voters vote, and there's nothing the NRA can do to influence millions of them in CA. The NRA doesn't have billions of dollars to spend on tv ads to appear during Game of Thrones or Superbowl broadcasts (if they'd even be accepted, which is another issue).

So maybe the NRA can stop these bills from ever being born? They're a step ahead of you. The NRA has a full-time lobbyist in Sacramento, trying to stave off the worst of these anti-2A bills. The problem is: you'll never perceive his value, because if he does somehow dissuade these mad dogs away from their anti-2A bones, it's just one fewer anti-2A bill. Instead of seeing 8 anti-2A bills, you see 7, and continue to whine about the NRA not helping. And hey, you can't fully be blamed, again, because there's no way to know if the lobbyist is actually stopping these bills from being born -- we're not in a position to know what's happening in the heads of the legislators, and you can bet they're not going to give credit to an NRA employee for influencing them!

This seems painfully naive. Painfully. Naive. This is a state where Prop 63 was approved by, what, 63% of the voters? And you think they'll lobby their reps to amend the state constitution in favor of guns? You don't need help with the wording, believe me. You need a dose of reality.

For the time being, the only hope in CA is going to come from the federal level. And that means supporting orgs like the NRA. You should send another letter, asking if you can help them.

I think this addresses most of what you want them to do. But, are you saying you want them to inform you of these efforts in a different way? Did you not know about these efforts?
