    .22 LR upper on AR15

What is the legal entanglements on having a .22 LR upper on a standard AR15 lower with pistol grip? Does possession of a center fire upper get you in trouble?

For that matter, if you have a Monsterman grip to avoid AW, does that prevent you from owning the pistol grip?

According to the flow chart it is legal. I have pump action upper. So far I have always used it with a Bullet Buttoned lower. I have not been brave enough to run it on a standard lower out of fear of ignorant LEO's.

I have heard mixed opinions of storing a dedicated .22 or dedicated non semi autos with rifles with standard uppers. I remember when Bullet Buttons first came out there were questions about their legality until they became accepted.

As I understand it, CA does not have constructive possession constraints - assuming you have an otherwise clear and legal path of ownership of parts.

An important caveat to keep in mind is that if you're running that lower with a normal mag release and all the other "evil features" (collapsible stock, pistol grip), you can't legally attach a centerfire, semi-auto upper to that lower in CA.

Understood. If the Grendel upper goes back on - so does the Monsterman grip.

It already has a fixed stock and no muzzle device. So bullet buttons are no longer needed.

Everyone interested in this topic should read this similar thread on the same topic in the centerfire rifles forum. My opinion is that this is no longer such a clear cut situation for reasons noted in the other thread.

                  Thanks for the link.

It begs the interesting question I originally posted about keeping the offending parts. Do we dispose of our flash hiders, pistols grips, and collapsible stocks after going featureless? Why would the centerfire barrel be any different?
