California Ranked #49 in Freedom by CATO Institute

The CATO institute did a study ranking each state by Freedom. They used multiple factors including firearms and CCW laws and regulations. It's pretty detailed.

California is still #49 overall behind New York. New Hampshire is #1 overall. New Mexico is #1 for Personal Freedom (That's the category relating to firearms and ccw laws and regulations).

All the data can be found here in this spreadsheet. The firearms related data is under "Personal"

    #49?

Heck, I thought for sure it would be at least #50.

Dam libs. It may to late for them to wake
up to the fact that many freedoms have been lost as the 900lb chicken clutching the hammer and sickle comes home to roost.

This is not good news for Californians. Now the Libs will have to double their efforts to be the number 1 most repressive state.

I strongly disagree,as the california democrat party already has all the rules, laws, restrictions and votes to make us # 50!

Next year or when the next study is published we (Californians) will have surpassed New York as the most dangerous place in the USA for law abiding gun owners!

Opps I mean previously law abiding gunowners who didnt keep up with every new gun law!
One perfectly legal tip to avoid the ammo shortages is to follow US Army champion shooter and Olympian competitor Kieth Sanderson, who dry fires 100 times for every live round fired.

Wow, even that is optimistic. My vote is 52 if you include Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands.

I believe the category of "Guns" refers to firearm laws and ccw...not personal freedom.

Our legislators will be proud. To them it's like getting an F from the NRA.

G- why should they want to wake up? This is exactly what they voted for and what they want.
Perhaps it's too late for the people on the fence, those not really paying attention but not for the far leftists.

Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

The Gun Control category is under the "Personal Freedom" category.

                        See the breakdown here:

Can't go from #50 to #1 - the shock of freedom might kill you.

Obummer said there are 58 states in the US.

We still got a margin of 9 before we hit bottom.
