Make semi auto into bolt action

What if you remove the gas tube or piston and then reversed the gas block on the barrel. This would make the firearm a non semi auto and would require you to manually operate the action to eject and chamber a new round.

If this is now a bolt action I can think of several ways to operate the action manually but still be able to build back to semi when you move or the law changes.

Any other ideas out there ? Don't beat me up just asking if it is a viable alternative.

I'm left handed so for me this would be fast to operate. The problem I see is you have to have a different upper receiver with no deflector. I know that there are uppers made to be manually operated but I was trying to see if you could switch over with out a big expense.

But it would be fun to take to the range and drive the antis nuts.

At that point you may as well just get a K-31 or similar. Semi auto rifles are a weapon in common use and are protected by the 2A. If they go after featureless rifles that will be in clear violation of Heller and the 2A. And an obvious loser in court.

Any fix is just very temporary, IMO

In case you haven't noticed...especially in the 9th Circuit they couldn't care less what Heller and the 2A say...

Plugging the gas block takes care of the semi-auto part, sure. There are also pump-action AK's out there.

How about an adjustable gas block and turn the gas all the way off. You can't reverse it without a tool, and then you have an AR that is both at the ready, yet a single shot bolt action.
