So would "Safety For All" and SB 1235 end ammo sales at places like Walmart?

Do they have to be FFLs to sell ammo?

    Seems like that's going away.

I think so. Vendors will need to have a BG check system in place in order to sell and I don't think Walmart will do that. Also the lack of ammo distributors will cause an increase in prices. We can expect on line sales to disappear as well as Walmart leaving only LGSs to sell ammo.

Unless the state issues ammo cards where the individual gets a green light to buy ammo, this way all we would have to do is present the card to buy ammo taking the BG check out of the hands of the seller

Yeah I don't see anyone in Cali selling ammo anymore. So basically only the criminals, cartels and terrorists will get ammo in Cali. Just like this ****ed up government wants it. ****ing stupid rat *** ***** bastards!!!!!!! These dumb ****heads think this **** will stop crime!!!!! Hahahahaha! Well I hope all LEOs stop carrying ARs cuz they won't need them since there won't be any crime with "assault weapons". ***** *** hoes

I too have a feeling that CA will go the way of the IL FOID card. Except, we won't be able to have ammo shipped direct. Then at the FFL or "Ammo Dealer" the card would be presented. Just a guess.

            What a cluster F***.

Not that this takes any sting out of it, but we still have until 2018 before this crap takes effect to stock up on a lifetime supply.

Does this mean that any out of state purchase would have to go through a local FFL (like gun purchases now)? Will Californians be able to purchase when out of state or will this be regulated as well? Will the checkpoints at the state border now ask if we have any fruit or ammo from out of state?

This bill sounds like it had the support of the lobby association for retail firearms stores (forgot the name). Bass Pro Shops and ranges are going to be looking for profits.

I went last night to my local Walmart in San Diego and asked the gentleman in charge of the "sporting goods" about how it will work for ammo purchases; his response: "I have no idea"...

I live in the High Desert and the Wallys around here are already experiencing panic ammo buying. The kid in sporting goods said they had so much stock on friday, it didn't fit in the case. The case was roughly half full when I went. I bought 500 odd rounds for $114.00. 7.62x39, 9mm, and .223.
I'm going to really miss the low ammo prices at Wally.

Read the law. No they do not. They do need to be licensed ammunition vendors, but it doesn't look like it is that hard to become licensed. Any retail business with a fixed location could get a license if they apply. They do not need the DROS system.

Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

This pretty much kills buying ammo at gun shows. Sure, the big dealers will have it, but the fun was buying old ammo someone who doesn't shoot anymore, died, etc. Now, buying at garage sales, etc. will be in our memories. Now, being the 4th of July, I am sure we can all hear how well the importation of fireworks that explode has worked! Sounds like Fallujah out there!

When lead is banned by the Cal EPA, you will spend a lot for those copper bullets.

Much like happened with magazine rebuild kits the Cali A.G. will threaten ammo sellers in neighboring states with lawsuits unless they refuse to sell to anyone with a Calif. I.D. They'll cave and shut off that avenue.

As far as auto searches...maybe...but Cal DOJ may well continue the "I spy" stuff" they pull at Nevada gun shows. The undercovers just monitor...forward the license plate #'s of the purchasers and follow up from there when the vehicle returns to Cali.
