So when do the new laws take effect? [[ JAN 1, 2017 ]]

Probably answered, but couldn't seem to find....

When will the laws signed by Brown today actually take effect?

    Thanks for any help.

Have to register assault weapons before July 1st 2018 - The charge will be $15 but I don't understand if that is per rifle or per person. Probably per rifle, which makes this look a little like a money grab since all legal guns have already been registered. WTH ?

It is a sad day at my house and in november the people are going to vote on ammo restrictions. Depressing.

If you don't already own a rifle, buy one before Jan 1st of next year

Can you buy a stripped lower and register it? or does it have to be a complete rifle?

I wonder how they take 80% completed with no marking and registered?

Do you guys think any accessories (upper, lpk, etc, not the lower) will stop being sold in CA post January 2017?

I think businesses that sell uppers parts and accessories will find it easier to stop selling such items to CA residents to avoid dealing with the hassle. Many companies already have.

Out of state most likely but in state there is nothing restricting them. I think people are going to be upping their purchases because there will be more (ghost guns) LOL being made.

Obviously, if your 80% build is an assault weapon, you will have to serialize it before registration

This is a sad day. I hope these laws can be challenged somehow and rolled back, but I have a bad feeling.

So, am I reading Senate Bill 880 correctly? If I buy and register an AR15 lower before Jan. 2018 it would still be legal to own?
