Items Becoming Law 12 Days after Hitting Brown's Desk - what's that date

What is the date that brown will receive the latest batch of bills? From an FPC email I got today it says:
Once they are received by his office, they will become law in 12 days UNLESS Governor Brown hears from you and vetoes Gunpocalypse.
I don't see that date documented here:

so I am confused on the date I should be monitoring...

    thanks

I thought signed bills would become law Jan 2017?

I think that's when most of them are effective.

Don't know what they're talking about. The governor has until Sept. 30 to sign, veto or leave unsigned (counts as signing).
        Incorrect...see posts 9 and 10 below.

All CA laws go into effect on Jan 1 of the following year (1-1-17 for this round of crap) unless the bill specifies otherwise.

This is what I thought...I was thrown off...could be part of their panic email campaign to get people to act...

The bill also says the registration deadline is Jan 2018

The FPC does very good work for us at the capitol and I appreciate them for it. However they are still an entity with people and bills to pay. They are good at scare tactics, and most people these days find it easier to cough up $20-200 and let someone else fight the battle while still getting that feel good "I'm doing something" feeling than actually call and do something about it themselves.

I suggest either reading the link you posted, or reading the California Constitution. Per Article IV, section 10(b)(3) of the California Constitution, "Any other bill presented to the Governor that is not returned within 12 days becomes a statute." The September 30th deadline refers to section 10(b)(2). "Any bill passed by the Legislature before September 1 of the second calendar year of the biennium of the legislative session and in the possession of the Governor on or after September 1 that is not returned on or before September 30 of that year becomes a statute." The September 30th deadline refers to a scenario of the Legislature passing a bill near the end of the legislative term. A bill passed in July 2016 is not going to be hanging around until September 2016, because it would have been made law after 12 days have passed.

These are supposed to be vetoed/signed before he goes on vacation which is tomorrow is what I'm hearing. Otherwise while he's on vacation they would go to good ol Gavin's desk and we all know what would happen then....

                      Section 10(b)(1)...30 days
                      10(b)(2)...Sept 30th
                      10(b)(3)...12 days

Aaaarrrrggggh. Reading that makes my head hurt and my eyes bleed. Why can't they just pick one and stick with it.

                      Thanks for the correction gents.

I don't think Brown will leave anything to chance.

It is beyond our control now, gents. Just contact the Governor now and urge him to veto tomorrow. Sac Bee reports he will sign/veto certain bills tomorrow before he leaves for vacation.

Once these bills become law they do not go into effect until 1/1/2017, but some have retroactive application re purchase/possession dates of various firearms.

The Gov does own 2 AR for what that's worth. By all means call and hope he vetos, but this is a temporary stay of execution. Gavin Newsom the heir apparent will sign every gun control law that comes across his desk.
