    The hk mp5 22lr

    Just a quick question,

Under the new law involving registering "assault weapons" would I have to register my H&K mp5 22lr? I believe I read that it has to be done before Jan 1, 2018. Just not clear on what 'they' are defining as "assault weapons". Thank you.

There is no new law yet. Nothing has been signed by Gov. Brown yet.

All of the "assault weapon" bans deal with centerfire rifles and certain "pistols" (those with magazines outside the grip), not rimfire rifles.

          Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

This is my understanding as well, unless I missed an important detail.
