It's really creepy how similar the wording is in all these bills. It's almost like they all get their talking points from the same source....

Interesting that they have given Connecticut (and California) a grade of "A-". What else could they possibly want the antis to pass in order to get that to an "A"? (Yeah, I know, don't answer that. After this hellacious legislative session, that grade just might change).

There's a simple explanation for that. They are getting their marching orders from the same source: the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence - based in California by the way, gun owners in the rest of the country thank California for that - the same group that operates that smartgunlaws.org web site mentioned by the OP.

The LCPGV provides model gun control law templates to pro-gun control legislators across the country so the legislators can submit them. The LCPGV writes the bills, saving the politicians the trouble. The pro-gun control politicians basically copy and paste the model laws from LCPGV, maybe add a few tweaks, and propose them as their own. That's why the bills look so similar. The model laws are carefully written by the LCPGV lawyers to be resistant to legal challenges.

Model Laws – Our legal team creates, adapts, and disseminates gun regulations that serve as model laws across the country. Our model laws are a starting point from which state legislation can be drafted, reviewed, debated and ultimately adopted. We also help state and local governments review their gun laws and draft new regulations.

Legal research and analysis – Our staff attorneys provide data and analysis to support the adoption, enforcement, and defense of violence prevention measures. We help ensure that all viable options are considered and that the measures taken will withstand scrutiny if they are challenged in court.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

      Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.
