    Volunteering/Activism opportunities?

I did some pro 2A volunteer work back in 2013 but work ended up forcing me to take a break from it. Now that I've got my life back under my own control I'd like to get back into it to hopefully help in the fight against the current legislative assault on us all. Primarily wondering what's happening these days and who's organizing it, and who I'd talk to about becoming a part of it.

I've sent out a few emails to my old contacts but figured I'd look on here as well, I'm not sure who's running things these days or what's currently on the table. Also, I've got four or five other folks with me who I've recruited through FB who are interested in volunteering as well, in various areas.

No one here seems to be organizing anything.

Someone tried to organize a march on the state capitol, but others noted either that it wasn't a good idea, or that they'd be busy for something a few months out.

Most recommend we email and / or call legislators. So far this session, that doesn't seem to be working.

I can direct just about anyone, in just about any area of southern California, just about any weekend to helpful 2a work.

It's just not going to be a glamorous ten thousand man march into Rome.

Are there any walk-in campaigns happening? I'd be interested in helping to organize one if not.

I'll PM you about this. I'm in WLA but I have others asking me about getting involved in a few other areas.

I want to clarify. Because rereading my post kinda sounds like I think I'm hot chit. I'm not. I just get frustrated that people are so quick to throw in the towel when it comes to direct action activism/volunteering.

What I mean by 'direct' is just that I can find something, online or find someone, who will have info on volunteer opportunities.

Also, we shouldn't forget our local clubs, who do a lot of good work and it's largely unsung.

That said, I will be happy to (and do my best to) track down info/contacts for any calgunner that needs a lead regarding this stuff.

Really, the biggest thing you can do is take gun-agnostic friends and neighbors shooting.

There aren't 12 Democratic Assemblymembers or 6 Democratic Senators that can be convinced in Sacramento. The best example? The 80% lower ban passing Assembly Public Safety after FPC demonstrated the absurdity of it.*

                Elections matter.

*True, they just advanced it so it could be used as a gut and amend later, but still. Any sane legislature would have voted the thing down.

                  Great advice.
Rarely will knocking on doors change someones mind. Lead them on the path to their own discovery. Take them shooting once or twice and they'll quickly realize how fictitious some of the lies are.

If you are an NRA member look into joining your local Members Council. Lots of good info there.

Also use the One Click: http://calnra.com/legs.shtml

We need to let them know the bills we oppose or are in favor of. It is a useful.

How can you say any of this? You say you're from the Bay Area and have never heard of the NRA members councils? And yes, there is an effect otherwise things would be much much worse than they are now.

A march on Sacramento would be "tactically dramatic" but would accomplish nothing as the legislators routinely go home whenever there's a demonstration in favor of a cause they don't like, and then with all that time energy and money spent for nothing, what are you going to do?

(I agree with you that gun owners tend to be the stupidest laziest most worthless people out there when it comes to defending their rights but if we have to carry these losers on our shoulders then that's what we have to do.)
