Shipping a part to the Phillipines

Does anyone know if it is OK to ship a gun part to the Phillipines.
Part in question is a Colt 1911 Pistol barrel

Are you shipping it through "door to door" (LBC) or are you traveling back home and packing it on your luggage "not hand cary"? It shouldn't be a problem either way. I've travelled back home few times and brought magazines and a Glock barrel with no problem.

The mags would have been ok if the total value of the gun parts you were carrying had a total value of less than $100.
The Glock barrel on the other hand is a federal felony, carrying a possible sentence of max 10 years in prison, or $100000 in fines, or both...

Gunparts, if the total value is less than $100 don't require an export permit.
Transactions > $100, or barrels, slide, receives, cylinders + a few more I can't remember ALWAYS require en export permit.

I'm sure there are people who carried barrels and other stuff both in and out of the country without permits, but just because someone is stupid and doesn't know the laws doesn't make it legal.

Sorry, but NO it is not alright. It is still illigal, like Gose said, you need export permit.

                Thanks for the replies:
                Why is it illegal ?
Is there somewhere I can look it up ?
I stopped at the post office today and they told me it was fine to ship it.
Why would I need an export permit and why would it be a Felony to ship a part ?
                Just looking for answers

Even US soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq have hard time getting parts for themselves so I really doubt you can send anything to the PI.

                  but here you go:

                  Prohibitions (130)

Firearms and weapons and parts thereof including replicas of weapons; ammunition.

THEY ARE WRONG, and saying, "the clerk at the post office told me it was ok" will NOT do you any good if it is caught.

It's a felony because the law says it's a felony. That's how felonies work.

If you really are having trouble falling asleep some night, you can go through the official ITAR site and read all the regs. But the other posters here are right:
                    • Barrels, and many other parts, are restricted export items under ITAR
                    • It's a felony if you don't have the proper export permit
                    • A 10-year Federal felony in fact
                    • Don't do it without an export permit
                    • Realistically, getting an export permit to export one part is probably more hassle and expense than it's worth to find the part in the Philippines. My understanding is that guns are widely available there, so I assume parts are too

Oh, and that's just the export half of it. The Philippines may or may not also have import permit requirements for parts (I believe most countries do have import permit requirements for gun parts). You would need to get a clear and decisive answer on that, and comply with those also, before you could do this.

Philippines do, that is why it cost twice as much or more up there. It cost me a thousand bucks plus for a Glock 19, plus a hundred for FA license good for two years and another two hundred plus bucks for CCW good for one year.

Not surprising. I assume most or all countries have strict import regulations on firearms parts. The US certainly does.

Now that's a bargain! My check would be in the mail already if we had those things here at twice the price.
