Law Center to Prevent Gun Ownership

Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence fights for the laws, policies, and programs proven to save lives.

I hope the NRA is up to the fight, we really need a counter to them. We need our own flashy website to debunk the lies and misdirection with a catchy name, etc. The misinformation is staggering. If you want to get pissed, browse the site. This group is behind and or writes all the Anti 2a legislation. Oh and if you have nothing to do on June 23rd, their Annual Dinner is being held. Newsom is being honored.

Lastly, our thoughts should also be with Nevada gun owners, they have a fight also. Tragically, the other side has spent 3.9 million (Bloomberg $2.9 alone) and our side less than a 100k. Law Center to Prevent Gun Ownership is behind this ballot initiative also. I wont ever stay at Caesars or Wynn Resorts again.

Gun Control is like treating the symptom, not the disease. Gun laws only restrict people who obey the law.

Meh, nothing special about the site and the information is just the pre-canned collection you can find on *any* gun control website. Nothing we haven't seen before.

Their real problem is that few are reading those websites and those who do are hard-core antis who are already on their side.

Some of us already know about them...they are/were behind the push to regulate firearm ownership in the SF Bay Area.

They used to be known as LCAV.

LCAV is more than just a website.

They're the source of most of the idiotic legislation coming out of Sacramento, the crap that cities do (like shut down Cabot) AND representative of the corrupt, biased culture of the CA court system (if not all of the 9th circuit).

They are dangerous. Do not underestimate them.

          Indeed.

They're tactic is to visit city councils and suggest "model ordinances" in the hopes the council will adopt them. They also provide a representative to voice their support/concerns during council meeting public hearing sections.

IMO now that it is clear the courts have failed us (Peruta is going to end up being a carbon copy of Judge Thomas' original dissent), fighting LCAV (aka LCPGV) is our only option left.

It is clear that the court/law culture follows their lead, and where they go, corrupt, biased, scumbag judges like Thomas follow like a bad stench.

Think about how we got Heller and McDonald in the first place: hint: it wasn't brilliant litigation; it was laying the groundwork in court/law culture.

I hate these guys (or honestly gals, most of their leadership is female). I'm a psychiatrist, and the Northern California Psychiatric Association had a conference on mental health and gun violence with a panel of speakers last year. They invited the president of the Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, but didn't bother to invite anyone from the pro-gun side. I really considered going to the meeting but I felt like it would just have been me shooting up my blood pressure getting furious and frustrated, and being ostracized by my colleagues, so I declined.

Don't forget, these people are future judges. They are shaping our court and legal system TODAY.

And if the GOP fails, Hillary gets that office, they are going to accelerate their plans by an order of magnitude.

The only thing that they will be accelerating is the new American rebellion.

Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim -- when he defends himself -- as a criminal. Bastiat

Better to be the lone voice than to let the opposition speak as if there is no opposition.

If we are always reacting then, the other side controls the debate. We need to find a way to get them reacting to us. One problem is that politicians are looking for easy answers. Gun control appears to provide an easy answer to crime, unless it is subjected to a critical analysis that too few are willing or able to give it. The real solutions are not simple, fast, or easy.
Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. So said somebody but not Mark Twain
"One argues to a judge, one does not argue with a judge." Me
"Never argue unless you are getting paid." CDAA

Absolutely. But California is overwhelmingly populated by very stupid people, who vote like lemmings against firearms. Ever notice that a lot of firearms owners are in the technology field, engineers or some other occupation that requires logical thinking? And that the anti-gun Eloi are more about some emotional reaction to gun crime rather than looking at it logically? That's a huge social problem that can't be changed with the mainstream media masturbating the weak minds of the Eloi, that guns are the cause of all the crime problems in the ghetto.
