Why do people sell their long guns these days

As the laws become more restrictive, aren't folks losing firearms forever by selling them?

technically there is nothing stopping them from getting the exact same long gun (currently), only thing that changes is them being "on the radar".

Seems as if you know this, but pre-2014, long guns were just recorded as "long gun". Be it a lower, or a Remington 700, or a DSA FAL. Now whatever you buy is properly recorded in detail.

I guess there's no difference then between pre-2014 and post-2013 status.

Because I'd rather feed my scar than my mp10?

Normally when I sell things, I get this stuff called "money" in return. I can use "money" for cool stuff! Sometimes I even use "money" for new guns!

Changing my selection. There are guns I have that I don't shoot. I'd rather give them a loving home.

Sell a gun? What are you guys smokin'? I have never had a desire to sell any firearm I purchased. When I think I want a new gun, I put serious thought into it and stick with it. I can always add more, right? (unless this screwed up state has their way, such as the roster and loss of sse) Some firearms that have been passed down from family, are not my cup of tea, but they are not worth a lot of money and don't take up a lot of room.

Who knows when my taste will change. I sold off a bunch of 30-30 brass a long time ago. My grandfather had a 30-30 but had plenty of stuff for it. Well, now I have his 30-30 and it is one of my favorite rifles. Back then, I hadn't even shot a lever action gun. His brass came with the gun so I didn't kick myself, but my situation and taste changed in a way I hadn't expected.

There are too many reasons to hang onto just about any firearm. Hopefully I never end up in a situation where I have to sell one off.

If we end up having to register our semi-auto rifles from pre-2014, and you choose not to, you can no longer ever take that rifle out in public again or tell anyone you have it, and even still you are committing a felony and taking a big risk just by keeping it. So I don't see how that makes it more valuable than a properly registered post-2013 rifle.
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

You are right - that would be bad.

                          We all sound so defeated.

Any pre 2014 DROS lower reciever or long gun is already defacto registered. How do you think the FBI found Enrique in San Berdoo?

Only 80% is not registered, unless you choose to.
