Q: Preban Beretta mag repair using XD9 mag parts

So... it's legal to repair/modify previously owned preban standard cap mags...

Can preban standard cap mags be repaired using parts from the mag of another gun?

I ask because I recently learned that the Springfield XD9 can use Beretta 92 and other magazines. Can a preban Beretta mag be repaired using XD9 mag parts?

Can a preban HS2000 mag be repaired using XD9 mag parts?

(I'm asking about legality, of course.) Thanks.

Per the expired Federal AWB, you would be considered to have manufactured a new magazine if the magazine no longer functioned in the gun it was originally built for. So...using the spring, follower or baseplate from an XD would be fine, but using the magazine body wouldn't be, unless you put in a notch so it fit into the beretta. I would assume that CA-DOJ would use a similar standard.

IIRC, the original HS-2000 pistols imported to the US came with slightly modified (extra hole to fit the XD/HS2000 mag release) pre-ban Beretta 92 magazines. Since they still worked in a Beretta 92, they weren't considered new manufacture.

Obviously, I'm not a lawyer, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
If you're not a resident of California, please don't waste your time trying to sell handguns here. A: your handgun is not on the approved list, and can't be sold here or B: We can already get it here with less hassle.

Thank you CGF and Leadership FFLs for NeRFing the roster!
