Not totally on topic but I was shooting at a private range here in Santa Cruz County with my freshly built AK and there was a SC Sheriff Deputy shooting. It is a small place (4 lanes in the rifle area) and he was checking out my AK (I think as a gun owner, not checking compliance or anything) and I told him it was all legit and asked him if he was aware of bullet buttons and OLL's. He said that he was. I don't think that all of the SCSD's are as informed on the laws as he was but I was pleased and relieved.
