Out of state CCW permits - which to get?

Which states issue CCW permits to CA residents, and which is the best to get?

what states will you be going to?

Utah and Florida are very popular permits to get, with Utah being most popular. But if you want to CCW in Florida, it must be with a Florida permit. They don't accept other states non-resident permits.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Utah + Florida ones will give you very good coverage overall in the US in terms of states that allow CCW and recognize CCW permits of other states. Alas, it doesn't include Kalifornia.

I believe NV now reciprocates with either UT or FL (or both).

Here are some maps and CCW travel resources. Just a word of caution to always check with the state you are traveling in to make sure you are up-to-date on any changes that might have been made to their CCW laws.

Go Florida. When you add up all the time and expense you'll go through to get Utah-approved training it is a bigger PITA than Florida. Utah's approved-instructor-network requirement is a big waste of resources all around.

Utah and Florida give you the same states EXCEPT Utah's gives you Washington and Florida's gives you Florida.

Big difference between them otherwise is that Utah's is cheaper but you have to take a special class. Florida's is more expensive, but any NRA class, military experience or competitive shooting involvement is considered adequate qualification.

Looking for places in Santa Clara Valley that offers a UT course. SJGE used to a while back ago but who does now?

I was doing the classes at SJGE. I have one coming up in Livermore, but would love to come back to the SJ area if there is interest. Let's get a class together!
