CRAP!. Never mind. I can't go anyways. That's the girlfriend's birthday dinner.

Heh, it's also the day she picks up her most recent gun purchase.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.

Maybe CG members can channel ideas to CGF & have them sort it out & pass it on to the NRA through a rep in OC. Just a thought.

How about a non gun related project that still sends a strong signal to the general public? Now these are just ideas, ok?

Help clean/paint a church/park since city budgets are f'ed for now.
Help donate food or a donation drive for the needy.

This can/may help the uninformed public realize that gunnies are not the cammo cladded, foul mouthed, uneducated, frustrated, religion clinging, ex military, blood thirsty, right wing, etc that Bradies make us out to be.

        HAY!? I resemble that remark!!!!!

We can show them that we are also compassionate human beings that represent what this country is all about. It will also show that we are united & ready to deal with the lovely folks in Sacramento in 2009.

          PC 12050, discretionary issue CCW
I call it "discriminatory issue CCW" when talking to folks unfamiliar with the issue. When using the term discretionary", people thought it was a good thing for the police to have "discretion" as to who to issue permits to.

It's a bit subtle, but the word "discriminatory" better highlights the fact rights are being violated with the current system.

          So there's my suggestion.

Ok, I'm off the hook again. I can attend this now and would still really like to. Angie just made me promise I'd get her a .22 bolt-action rifle. Since it IS Christmas-time, I don't see a problem with that

To be honest, from your first message: I figured you BOTH might show-up.

Gene's going, so CalGuns has a great rep going!

What I wonder about is, assuming we win incorporation, how and on what and in what order will we fight next. Things I'd like to see attacked include:

                PC 12050, discretionary issue CCW
                PC 12031, loaded ban
                PC 12125, "unsafe" handgun roster
                PC 12276, AW ban
There isn't any way I can be there, but when discussing gun laws to go after, don't forget the 1000' school around schools.

Also, on a Federal Level, the NRA needs to play defense when the Obama administration tries to change the carry laws back to no-carry in National Parks. This is actually a great avenue for forcing loaded open carry to be recognized as a right, and we need loaded open carry if we're to do anything about the discriminatory issue CCW in this state.

                Just my opinion, of course.

She would love to show up, but will be at work till 6:30. If she can show up a little bit late, then she would. She's just worried that she won't have much to contribute.

After the enjoyable time we all had, at dinner last summer, I'm sure nobody would mind if she arrived a little late. And if they did mind, I DON'T CARE! <grin>

I'm hosting this meeting so she can come in whenever she's available.

Seriously: Please let her know that we consider her as part of the team and she is welcome.

Sounds great! I take it the location will be revealed closer to Thursday? I will let Angie know that she's welcome.
