    open carry in West LA?

Lets talk hypothetical. If I wanted to walk to the store with a pistol in a holster on my hip, could I?

The area I live in is pico/robertson area. 90035.

Assuming you're talking about unloaded OC, I'm not sure if anyone's done it on LAPD's turf. Especially in the west-side golden triangle (Santa Monica-Century City-Beverly Hilly).

Yeah, unloaded. Open magwell with a loaded mag on my opposite hip.

Since the drop leg holster idea my only worry would be school zones and having someone to video tape any loaded checks to prove the the mag in the gun was unloaded.

I remember there is some stupid law like that, but it won't hold up post Prop H. You better have the dough for lawyers though.

There are schools EVERYWHERE in the area.

I'd be more worried about that than anything.

Negative!!!!!!!!! (until you show the positive)

What I think you are referring to is LA City's prohibition on sales of accessories for small handguns of which the sale is prohibited in the City of LA. Possession is not prohibited. A friend living down in LA who wanted a .380 bought it at the Pasadena Turners and drove it home to LA.

I believe LAPD may have confiscated some small holsters from a shop years ago but I don't know what happened in the end.

False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that has no remedy for evils except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are laws of such a nature. They disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes.

yeah. Good luck not being near a school.

Remember that a lot of those temples are 'schools' as well.

Here's the best I've been able to dig up on LA firearms laws... that city REALLY loves to try and hide its municipal codes!

Yeah this city sucks as far as their codes are concerned. I've rarely ever been able to find anything when I hear of one.

Thanks for the link. Always glad to know I've become a criminal I think I might give a box of ammo for Xmas just to spite em.

Time restriction: In order to cut down on idiots shooting their guns in the air at New Years' and the Fourth of July, LA has banned the transfer of ammunition (not only can you not buy from dealers, but it's a crime for people to give each other ammunition!) during the 7 days immediately before both of these holidays.

                            Disposal of Firearms and Ammunition
Firearms and ammunition must be disposed of by either transfer or by relinquishing to a police department. Otherwise, it is a misdemeanor offense (i.e. if you throw a bad round in the trash, you just bought yourself a sentence)

Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim -- when he defends himself -- as a criminal. Bastiat
