CA 2015 AB 499 Cooley: archery season: concealed carry firearms

Existing law establishes an archery season for the taking of deer with bow and arrow. Existing law generally prohibits a person taking or attempting to take deer during that archery season from carrying, or having under his or her immediate control, a firearm of any kind, except for an active or honorably retired peace officer, as specified.
This bill would authorize a person with a valid license to carry a firearm capable of being concealed on the person, consistent with the terms of that license, while engaged in the taking of deer with bow and arrow as long as he or she does not take or attempt to take deer with the firearm.

People who have LTCs will be able to carry concealed while bow hunting, but of course must use only the bow for hunting.

        Sounds reasonable to me.

It's reasonable that any person, while hunting, should be able to carry a sidearm for safety reasons.

We need a new law for this?

Suppose you could just make do with only the existing law referenced, and not carry your CCW weapon. Would that make you happier?

We could fight to repeal the one that says you can't if you'd prefer.

Not very savvy, and not a hunter. Find it odd that we need a law to allow us to carry CCW when bow hunting, that it's not already a given. If I'm out "hiking" in the wilderness I'm allowed to carry a weapon, but not when bow hunting in the same wilderness? California is truly a fornicated state.

Under DFG regs its illegal to carry a firearm now when bow hunting.

This, although only beneficial to bow hunters with a LTC and both inter cops actually appears to be pro-2A legislation in California. Yay!
Just still gotta be lead-free, I guess.

with an archery only tag or during the archery season. In general it is legal to carry while bow hunting with a general tag during firearms season.

I thought it was a no go, but this would state the opposite, for a CCWer anyway, this is good
