I'm still trying to figure out how get protected class status as a "left-handed, middle child".

    Anyone got any ideas?

The problem is KH is not wired to think of the situation in this fashion. The author's approach assumes a level of rationality that is simply not how KH processes the subject.

I will admit to the frustration of this process. However it is delightfully ironic when statists keep taking an inch, then taking another inch until they eventually go too far. Then the courts react by constraining the statists far more than if they had tried to be reasonable in the first place. It's the law of unintended consequences and it works in our favor. Eventually. And I agree that Eventually takes too long.

That's exactly right. The problem with bigots is they don't have a rational point of view. So the things they do often are not even in their own interests, however twisted they may be. Many of us who were around in 05-06 miss Alison Merilees, who did wonderful things to advance our cause while working for CA DOJ trying to shut us down.

I realize a lot of people will not like, understand, or agree with this line of thought, but I hope there are open carry marches in DC, ASAP. If long guns aren't allowed, fine, it should be open carry of handguns.

DC needs to appeal this ruling, for the same reason that I hope KH can intervene and appeal Peruta.

There is no hope left for the residents of NY, MD, and NJ unless we get a SCOTUS ruling. There are only a small set of cases that are viable options. Palmer is one. Anything we can do to force DC's leadership to appeal is good. An OC march is one thing that would hep. We have no control over what the court does going forward in Peruta, but we have an opportunity to force DC to do what we want them to do.

That's my take on this. This needs to be appealed.

Just need a lawyers opinion here. If Palmer can reference Peruta, why can't someone in firearm case reference Palmer? I might also add that if Peruta should go en banc, and oral hearings are required, why couldn't the Peruta team reference Palmer? Isn't this the kind of fortress building pro 2A lawyers were hoping for to further protect the 2A?

Living proof that where emotional nonsense is controlled, common sense flourishes.
I know Dennis Santiago personally and he is a very no-nonsense, straight shooter. He is very analytical in his thoughts and usually just tells it like it is or advises how it should be, all the while very capable of backing up his arguments. Common sense is something Dennis has in spades.

He is also very rooted in the shooting world and takes it upon himself to train and instruct new shooters in CMP and mentor those getting into NRA Hi-Power, XTC, F-Class, etc. He has mentored me and helped me immensely to get involved more in the sport of shooting.

It's more along the lines of having "gun ownership" being a protected class, such that search engines, employers, universities, public institutions, retailers and others *have to* play by the same rules as when treating any other protected class...
