    Woollard v. Gallagher Cert Petition Filed

    As I remarked in the 2A Cases Thread over at TFL, and as remarked elsewhere here, Woolard has filed for cert.

    No. 13-42
    Title: Raymond Woollard, et al., Petitioners v. Denis Gallagher, et al.
    Docketed: July 11, 2013
    Lower Ct: United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit
    Case Nos.: (12-1437)
    Decision Date: March 21, 2013
    Rehearing Denied: April 16, 2013

    ~~~Date~~~ ~~~~~~~Proceedings and Orders~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Jul 9 2013 Petition for a writ of certiorari filed. (Response due August 12, 2013)
    Jul 9 2013 Consent to the filing of amicus curiae briefs, in support of either party or of neither party, received from counsel for the petitioners.
    I had forgotten that Alan Gura was traveling abroad, when I emailed him for a copy of the petition, but he contacted the MD attorney, Cary Hansel, who forwarded a copy. We have yet to know who the amici are that wish to file, but I'm sure that with Mr. Hansel's help, we can receive copies of those files, when they are filed.
    The first 52 pages of the PDF are the petition with the remaining pages being the prior opinions and other errata. The file is hosted at TFL, but anyone may retrieve it (you may have to go to TFL as a lurker to retrieve the file, I'm not sure, but I know you don't have to be a member to download the file).
    Thanks for keeping us posted.
    If SCOTUS denies cert to this one, then I'm going to be a bit worried.
            People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.
              As always, a very good read. I'd expect to see Biondy(USPS case) added soon as supplemental authority. It also helps that we don't have to worry about the whole concealed v. open deal since MD doesn't distinguish between the two.
                I'm going to be a bit worried either way, only slightly less so if they grant cert. I feel like Kennedy may not be solidly enough in our court to get a good carry ruling.
