I will be contacting one provider that has an approved online course, so he can start advertising his online course to non-residents.

Edit: Here is a link to one of the approved online courses I have discovered. https://559ccw.com/

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!

The question will be whether those of us whose permits only expired because we left California and could not renew, qualify for the shorter renew class.

No. But we can sue in a California Court.

The requirement to issue non-resident CCW permits in CA goes live on Monday (maybe Tuesday). In cooperation with a far northern CA Sheriff’s Office, I submitted a complete application package including online course certificate, shooting qualification from my local range, and fingerprint card. It was delivered by mail today, so they have it on the day they can start processing it.

lets see how long it takes for a permit to arrive….

while my avatar says San Jose, I now live in Utah.

First, congrats on moving to a free state. Why bother getting a CA CCW? Where you can carry is so limited compared to what it was.

agreed…. But I still travel back to CA several times a year…. And maybe also just to be able to say I got a CA CCW after trying for 40+ years..

Curious why you had to 'try' for 40+ years.

Because no agency in Santa Clara County issued (without a large political contribution). And when Bruen was decided, I was already moving out of CA.

I just started the process with the San Diego Sheriff. I started a thread in the San Diego forum and will post updates there.
