Need an experienced 2A attorney
Tags: None -
Your buddy doesn’t need a “2A attorney.” Your buddy needs an attorney experienced with post-conviction relief, specifically, a Governor’s pardon. The Certificate of Rehabilitation is the first step for many people in getting a pardon. Under Penal Code section 4852.08, the public defender’s office of the county usually represents someone in a Certificate of Rehabilitation proceeding, though it’s possible to have the court appoint a local attorney. Keep in mind the time requirements such as seven years of residence in the state, and the time that has elapsed since the date of release from custody. -

He lives in San Jose.
He has reached out to the public defenders office, waiting for a response.
Does anyone here have knowledge of this process actually working out for someone? I know with a 17b reduction to misdemeanor its pretty cut and dry and a person gets their rights back. But he doesn't qualify because he did prison time.Comment
