That's a good point and I agree. The issue is now that SCOTUS granted cert in Rahimi and the federal government appealed the bump stock ban, is SCOTUS going to take 3 2A cases next session? I'm guessing the bump stock case will be a priority due to it being a federal regulation. I'm not so sure Bianchi will be taken in the next session.

We shall see. Perhaps this upcoming term, which runs from September 2023 to June 2024, is too soon to realistically wish for, but I think chances are genuinely good that the Supreme Court takes up an assault weapons ban and high-capacity magazine ban case during the September 2024 to June 2025 term.

By "genuinely good", I mean that personally, I would forecast the chances at above 80% because by the end of 2024, there will likely be multiple circuit splits on the issue of whether the Second Amendment protects the right to purchase and possess assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

We shall see. This past Supreme Court term, Justices Roberts, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett all held the line on several high-profile cases such as affirmative action, LGBTQ+ anti-discrimination, and student loan forgiveness.

It would be welcome news if we heard any updates on this case or any of the other 2A challenges before Benitez. I mean anything at all. All I've heard are crickets since at least March, 2023, except for conjecture and prognosis on our part. We're moving on to month four and it continues to be eerily silent.

Given that it is likely that all 4 cases are to be released at the same time and given that we have a minimum of 45-ish days for the known steps in the Rhode PI phase, we are looking to at least another 60 days till any case gets released.

Is there a reason to hold the other three while the state drags Rhode out another month plus? Is there some aspect of the additional “expert” testimony that might have some bearing? If not, why wouldn’t they be released each as it’s ready?
Is there any benefit from putting them all out at once?
