    I'll test that

So far, smooth process, good communication, product shipped within 24 hours and package weighs about four pound more than advertised helmet weight. Compared to my local sanitation company, eye doctor and lawyer, whom I also tested during the same time period, excellent.

Quality of helmet, unknown. Will report. That's what this forum is about. Since I worked as a machinist for nearly 50 years, my perspective is geared towards precision and quality of construction.

Usually for helmets it?s in the following order from best to lesser quality.

    Ops-Core
    Team Wendy
    3m

The 3m is most affordable and many agencies swear by them.

That helmet you purchased is the same you can get on AliExpress for $127 shipped.

I actually bought one and shot it with all different rounds. It stopped 9mm, 40, 22lr. It didn?t stop 10mm or any larger rounds.

I have videos if you want to see them getting shot.

Got the HHV USA helmet ordered and will report on the process and results. Smooth sales process, modest shipping about 20 bucks and of course in Oregon no sales tax
    Good info.

ETA, Wed AM here and looks like the order will go out today with a 5 day ride via UPS. Hope the helmet can handle their ballistics

Thanks for the update and information. It appears the helmets weigh 3lbs 4oz in stock form.

I'll update when I make a choice later this week and after receiving it.

One thing I would point out is that their Gen2 Helmets were advertised as being made in Holland but were found to be made in China. The Gen1 I bought is advertised as Made in China. If this bothers you. I did not buy the additional harness. This is from their website.https://ballisticarmorco.com/pages/a...al-helmet-info

After much reading and watching of YouTube vids I chose this one. I got an online coupon for 10% off. Also got free shipping. Did I make the right decision? I have no idea.
The Gen 1 advanced combat helmet is manufactured to Ballistic Armor specs and independently tested by a certified NIJ lab in the USA. The above-the-ear (ATE) design offers mobility and weight reduction.

Thanks, I was looking at what is apparently their most popular helmet and figured it was an import since it wasn't advertised as U.S. made. The U.S. made one is almost a grand, which is pretty expensive; the import about half that. H WIN are made in China.

Since I'm not one to let my ego write checks my body can't cash, I recognize the limitations of my age and the realities of what protective gear adds to weight and bulk so am trying to balance cost with those factors.

Another factor I'm investigating is the effect of humidity on the Aramid construction over time. I noted some of the helmets have a five year advertised shelf life. I live in a pretty wet environment and, even inside, humidity runs 60% or so. That may also be a factor in choice.

    My questions:
Has anyone purchased from Hard Head Veterans? Helmets appear to be all they do/sell. How about H-WIN, the company Matt tested?

For those with the gear, do they train with it regularly? I'm designing a gear cubby for training right now, particularly night training. Anyone else?

We need helmets for the SbS on the beach anyway and I was thinking of a dual use ballistic helmet. I've got my old racing helmets but they're full face and not designed for ballistic threats or shrapnel.

Wish I could help, OP, but I'm kinda in the same boat you are. After stuff like that dawn raid by ATF on that white collar airport manager, it was on my mind.
This is the direction I'm headed(very punny) and I'm doing my research. I'm thinking about NV but I'm not sure I want to spend that much. I could, I just don't know if I want to. So, whatever you glean please post for the benefit of others. I'm very much looking to get a lid for now.

I got a PASGT for every member of the family. Do not plan on ever using it until I need to. Just something that is nice to have is all.
