Your best time of the day is almost always first light. Gotta have those decoys out if you want to kill birds consistently. I dont mean to sound condescending but it sounds like he has no clue. Send him to the sticky lol.

I've always thrown out the deeks in the dark, which is usually about 45 minutes to an hour before shooting time, then relaxed and waited for first light.
Now I usually hit the free roam parts so sloshing around in the muck to find a unoccupied spot probably moved the buggers around, but never to flight. I usually did pretty good. We'll just give them the 'ol number 6.Comment

The guy told me it's only a late season thing, you could still put a few out after your first shots and sun still not out yet....
By the way didn't work out for me, guys shot 15 minutes early and scared all the ducks in my pond away anyway. .. probably depends on your blind though too, i had last blind on the sweat line at sjLast edited by adchrome; 01-16-2015, 11:59 PM.Comment

Not to sound like a calguns operator but you put them out before. If you bump birds off your pond they may come back (bump, not shoot). If you put out decoys aftet light any duck between shoot time and the time you get back at the blind you have zero chance at..Originally posted by jmonte35Disagree.
