Franklin Armory F17-L – Review and Hunt Report with Video

We got a chance to try out the new Franklin Armory F17-L AR15 rifle in the .17 Winchester Super Magnum rimfire cartridge.

I did a little hunting here in California, but then we headed to Arizona, where we had a blast shooting rock squirrels, prairie dogs and some rabbits. You can read the entire review and hunt report here:

Here is the full video, including the hunt portion (watch in high-def at full-screen for the best viewing):

All in all, I really enjoyed the rifle and felt it was perfect as a quick repeating varmint rifle. It was a blast!

Sidenote but for an Ar type rifle what's your favorite variable scope power for yotes? Ie: 2x7, 3x9, etc.?
      (Im using a 16" pencil/lightweight upper )

        Thanks, TheDadLIfe!

lewdogg - I like a variable no higher than 9 power when I'm calling down here. But normally leave it at 7, unless I need to go higher.

If I am up north and I know my shots might stretch out a couple of hundred yards, I'll bump up to a 16 power on the high end, but leave it at 12, unless I need the higher end for one hanging out there.

Is the F17 only available as a complete rifle or is the upper going to be sold separately? Looks like a VERY fun gun, but I don't know that I would want/justify a strictly rim-fire AR.

Franklin Armory may have plans to release just the upper, but I think they are just concentrating on the full rifle right now.

You can also check out the full rifle review and range report, which has more detailed rifle information, over on our sister site, AR15Hunter.com:
