That's actually a lie, I do in fact love cotton hunting... But this morning sucked, and not due to lack of rabbits.
So I pull into my parking spot at the head of a great trail that I always get at least one rabbit within the first 10 minutes of hunting. As I'm parking, I see the first dart 40 yards ahead of the truck down said trail. I'm stoked! I get out of the truck grab my gun, throw my bags on, and open the cooler to grab a few bottled waters. As I'm putting the waters into my bag, 2 cracked out tweakers in a beat white SUV drive right past me and head down trail I intend to hunt... I'm thinking "Where the hell do they think they are going?" because this trail gets way to narrow and rocky to drive after about 250 yards. They then stop and park about 200 yards down aforementioned trail. Crap... So I take a different trail- 5 minutes into hike I see a pure black domestic rabbit that someone has obviously released- odd. 10 minutes after that I almost stepped on a rattler. Long story short, I hiked about 3 more miles, saw about 3 or 4 more rabbits, but all were out of shotgun range. I was kicking myself for strappping a 22 to my back. Didn't get one until I was back within about a 100 yards of my truck at the end of the hike... Crap opening morning.
