Does anyone hunt Deer and Bear with a pistol?

I have the Weatherby CFP's in 308 and 22-250.Both with Leupold 2-8s.I have used the 308 on deer.Big whitetails in another state.22-250 for coyotes.
Kind of nice to carry.Very accurate.Recoil is up and twist a little.The 308 is not even that bad.It came with the Accubrake.
I also shoot a older Contender in 223.My intention is to buy the 6.8 SPC barrel for it.
I carry a lightweight bipod everywhere though.

I take a contender 6.8 pistol as back up to my 6.8 ar. haven't taken a deer with it. I used to be good out to 200 yards. now a days I on feel comfortable out to 100. Pistol scopes suck in low light
