Been here in So Cal for quite some time. If you hunt dove, they are awesome. As far as habitat/pressure on other birds are concerned, they don't seem to be causing any issues. They don't compete with the mourning or white-wings, so I'm all for them. They taste great too. There is debate that they are filling the ecological niche left by the Passenger Pigeon.
Interesting fact- Though they rarely do, they are capable of cross breeding with Rock Dove (common pigeon). Generally only happens when you keep them penned up together.1A - 2A = -1A
