    D-16 drawing strategies?

So I will admit I'm not very versed in "gaming" the big game drawing system, since I never had to really worry about down here in D-16 till now. I'd put in for the doe tag drawing and then buy my OTC buck tag.

But now that all the various tags in the D-16 area are draw tags does that mean you wont be able to have 2 tags for the same area now? Not sure how all that works.

Or for example could you put G-13 (doe tag) as your first choice, then D-16 buck tag as second, then take a point as 3rd choice if you didn't get either of the first 2?

    I'd appreciate any input.

    Thanks

you can have 1 D16 draw tag, I will check on the seasons for d19 and d16 if they are the same I'll put in for A22 then do and OTC tag on d19 get in 3-4 months hunting that way, all close to home. you only get 1 draw tag

Only One SD tag this year period.

On your first tag your first choice takes the points the second and third choice won't take your points.

That's why I was thinking of putting G-13 as first choice......cuz you're not likely to draw that unless you have several points already (although I drew one of the lucky random tags last year) Then put D-16 as your 2nd choice, that way you wouldn't burn a point on the D-16 tag.

Or just do a point instead of g13 and make D16 your second choice. I would suspect that D16 & A22 won't sell out in the draw so July 2nd check for left over tags.

If you do a point as your first choice......getting your point doesn't exclude you from moving to your 2nd choice?

The point is just that a point not a tag.

So if you choose a point then it moves onto your second choice if no tags available then it moves onto your third choice

ahhh....gotcha. Seemed like if you got the point then you're have gotten your first choice. But hey....it's CA.....who said the rules had to make sense.

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated.

Went scouting this morning. Saw some toad buck tracks and a doe and fawn. Hunting new areas to challenge myself a bit. Did not expect to see anything and did. If you haven't stated scouting I'd highly suggest you do.

Yep...it's on my list. Possibly this weekend depending on festivities, but weekend after for sure. Got a game cam for Xmas that I wanna try deploying too. I know the spot I'm heading to.....it's a bit of a ***** to get to but I saw BIG tracks up there last year. Fortunately I live close by and can easily get an early start to beat the heat.

Don't leave that camera up into august. I'm sure it's a ***** to get to but I've had cameras stolen in August but never in July. I'm not putting any cams in this year as I'm confident my spots have bigger bucks I just need to put in the time at the right time.

Same here. I'm already confident my spot has a couple huge bucks.
I don't want to give away my spot or risk having a camera stolen.
